Suwon... Capital City of Gyeonggi-do

Suwon CIty (Suwon-si, 수원시) is the capital city of Gyeonggi-do (경기도). It's located far from Seoul around 30 Km. Suwon is an interesting city and contains long Korean history as well.

This city started from a small tribe of people who came to stay in this area and settled down. Today, Suwon is an developed & prosperous city. It contains both cultural and industrial in the same city.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is the only one in Korea which remains in a great condition and it's also a popular tourist destination. There are a lot of tourists came to visit Suwon each year.

Moreover, Suwon is a center of education. There are 14 university campuses located here. It's the house of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

You can easily travel to Suwon by using MRT - Lline 1 or KTX / ITX : Express trains and a bus.

Cherry Blossom in Gyeonggi-do

It's ... S - P -R - I - N - G !!!

Before I talk about some other things in Gyeonggi-do, I would like to talk about the "Famous Festival" that you are looking forward to seeing it ~~

Do you know ? Gyeonggi-do also have a lot of Cherry Blossom !!!

You should call "Cherry Blossom" in Korea as "Beotkkot /  Beojkkoch" (벚꽃) ... Please kindly do not call is as "Sakura" (사쿠라, sah-k'ooh-rah). ^_< 

"Beotkkot" (벚꽃) came from "Beotnamu" (벚나무), means "Cherry Tree" and "Kkot" (꽃), means "Flower".

Let's go to "Cherry Blossom Festivals in Gyeonggi Province" !

The festival will start around mid of April.

ก่อนจะพูดถึงสิ่งต่าง ๆ ในจังหวัดคยองกี ก็ขอพูดถึงเทศกาลที่มีชื่อเสียง และ ทุกคนตั้งตารอคอยกันก่อนดีว่า ~~

คุณรู้หรือไม่ว่า .... จังหวัดคยองกี ก็มีต้นซากุระ (เชอร์รี่ บลอสซั่ม) อยู่มากมายไม่แพ้จังหวัดอื่น ๆ ในเกาหลี ?

คุณควรจะเรียกดอกไม้ชนิดนี้ว่า "พ็อดกด" (벚꽃) แทนที่จะเรียกว่า "ซากุระ" (사쿠라) [เดี๋ยวพี่เกาหลีเขาจะงอน~~~] ^_<

คำว่า "Beotkkot, พ็อดกด" (벚꽃) มาจากคำว่า "Beotnamu, พ็อดนามุ" (벚나무), แปลว่า "ต้นเชอร์รี่" และคำว่า "Kkot, กด" (꽃), แปลว่า "ดอกไม้".

ลองมาดูกันว่า สถานที่ใดในจังหวัดคยองกีที่มีต้นซากุระมากมาย สวยงาม และมีผู้คนนิยมไปเที่ยวชมกันบ้าง ...

เทศกาลชมดอกซากุระในจังหวัดคยองกี จะเริ่มประมาณกลายเดือนเมษายน

Gyeonggi-do consists of 31 cities

Gyeonggi-do (Do = Province) consists of 31 cities and counties which surrounds Seoul. Each city has many famous & interesting attractions, some had registered as a World Heritage / World Cultural Heritages by UNESCO. You can see some parts of North Korea from some cities in Gyenggi-do, e.g. DMZ (Paju City) - which many tourists went to visit all year round.

More over, Gyeonggi-do is the center of Hallyu (Korean Wave). 

Some famous Korea series / dramas & movies, e.g. Dae Jang Geum, Boys Over Flowers, You’re Beautiful, Secret Garden, My Love from the Star etc., were shoot in this province.

Gyeonggi-do’s located very near to Seoul (surrounds the capital city – Seoul). It’s very easy to get around the cities in Gyeonggi-do by using the public transportation e.g. MRT, Bus, Intercity Bus.

Let's come to know "Gyeonggi-do" !

We will introduce you about the location of this province. So you will know about the location of Gyeonggi-do, where is it in South Korea ?

Gyeonggi-do surrounds Seoul, the capital city of the Republic of Korea. 

(Let's imagine that 'Seoul' is the center of the fried egg and 'Gyeonggi-do' is the rest in white area.)

This province has a very long history since Prehistoric times through Baekje, Goryeo, Joseon Dynasties until the present day.... the era of technology, IT, industrial and tourism. All of them have also flourished in Gyeonggi-do.
